The other one is that it has a small chance to help cancer cells survive chemotherapy and move in the scalp area.

Regrowing your hair with Minoxidil

There are only two treatments approved by the US government to regain lost hair. Minoxidil has to be applied directly to the scalp in order to help regrowing hair. After a period of time it has its effect for both men and women. Women should use the 2% concentration instead of the 5% used by men.

Things you can do until your hair regrows

It is a long time until hair regrows from the affected scalp. During this time you will have to adapt with a life with no hair. Luckily there are some things you can do until your hair fully recovers from its damage:

a) Take care of your hair

Do not use cosmetics on your hair because they can provoke irritations of your scalp. Also try to comb your hair as gently as possible thus avoiding breaking your hair. Use soft pillows in order for your hair to be safe from pulling.

b) Choose carefully your hair products

Use only mild products for your hair. Is you use antidandruff shampoos or harsh balms your problem will aggravate. In this period baby shampoos and oils are recommended for your scalp.

c) Wigs

Wearing a wig is not so uncommon as it was many years ago. Now there are wigs that imitate natural hair perfectly. If you find a wig that has the right size for your head you will look very natural.
